Facebook tips for Music Therapists

While Facebook has its ups and downs, it can be a powerful tool for music therapists to learn from and collaborate with other music therapists around the world. Below are some of the ways I have discovered to utilize the benefits of Facebook as a new music therapist.

- Facebook Groups: There are countless music therapy groups out there. Some groups are for general music therapists while others are for specific populations. See our other post for more details!

- Music Therapy companies to follow (separate post coming soon): As with groups, several music therapy companies use Facebook to market, connect with others and share ideas. See our other post for some of the companies that I have found helpful!

- The search function: As music therapists, we are very busy people! Therefore, we do not have time to scroll through the countless posts featured in each music therapy group page. Therefore, the search function is a great tool to quickly find answers for what you are looking for. Also, please utilize this tool before you ask a question that may have already been answered!

- Save function: This has probably been my favorite discovery on Facebook so far. Music Therapists are amazing people who share countless ideas across facebook or ask questions that I have been wanting to ask. However, when I scroll through Facebook I do not usually have the time to carefully read the post. However, I recently saw the option to save a post and it has saved me so much time and effort! Once you start saving posts you can create lists and share with others. To save a post or video, click on the 3 dots (...) that you see on the top right corner of the post.
